"Mad Max: Fury Road" Charlize Theron Loss at $1M for Selling $1.7 million LA Pad
"Mad Max: Fury Road" star Charlize Theron might just be a bit furious after taking a $1-million loss on her Los Angeles pad. The Oscar winner splurged $2.76 million for the 1-bedroom, 2-bath Hollywood loft at the height of the housing bubble in 2007 and sold it in October for only $1.7 million.
The two-story condo has the open floor plan, exposed air ducts, and high, steel-framed windows of a New York penthouse. It comes with three terraces, including one with a view of the iconic Capitol Records tower and one with a stylish fireplace.
The loft building started out as a department store in the 1920s and its main selling point is its discreet alley access to a full-time valet service, Variety reported.
In 2013, Theron also sold an iconic Los Angeles mansion for a whopping $3.8m. It was claimed to be the property that inspired George Harrison's beloved Beatles song "Blue Jay Way." The home was considered quite the bargain, given the fact that it has served as residence to two notable celebrities.
The South African native splurged $3.625 million on that three bedroom Hollywood Hills manor in 2009 and has had it on and off the market since last year. Back then, the "Monster" actress was quick to change her price in the slow property market, dropping from $4.599m to $3.999m in over 10 months. Although she made a relatively small profit on the home, she claims to have enjoyed her temporary ownership. It was also a better deal considering her recent $1-million loss, Zillow reported.
"Mad Max: Fury Road" star's current luxurious home overlooks Los Angeles and is within the Bird Streets, a residential district known to be an elite enclave popular to celebrities. Due to its enticing views of the city and secluded nature, it has served as home to Oscars 2016's Best Actor Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Aniston, Tobey Maguire, Keanu Reeves and Jodie Foster.
